It’s Time!!! Hi everybody. We’re back... You might notice that this is “Volume II, Issue ONE of the Bugle. This means we are officially into the SECOND YEAR of Troop 238's existence. Year one was spent training our “Greenbar” members to be good leaders. This year, we expect that they will rise to the occasion, and we expect that the Troop will have much more of a “Scout lead” feel.

CONGRATULATIONS! Congratulations are in order for our first group of Tenderfoot scouts: DANNIEL ARENAS, AUSTIN PESEUX, JUSTIN EVANS, MARK SPEEDY, RONALD SWENTKO and JEFFREY ZIMMERMAN. Each of these Scouts completed the requirements for Tenderfoot Scout, and were awarded their badge of rank and certificate at our first Court of Honor on December 12 , 2007. Scouts should sew the badges on their uniforms themselves (it’s OK for mom or grandma to show you how, but you have to do it yourself) and the certificates should be retained in a safe place to prove your achievement in the event that you move or change troops.

The month of February was spent
really “honing in” on some basic
knife and axe skills and several of
our scouts qualified for their
Totin Chip cards. Also, we spent
two meetings working on fire laying
and lighting. Thanks again to the
Lighthouse Point Fire Department
for helping us keep safe. The
skills we learned were of great
help at the February campout at
“Camp Deardrop” in the Big Cypress.
February was also the month for our
participation in Scout Sunday at
the Church. We had a good showing
from the Pack and the Troop, and
were made to feel very welcomed by
our new Sponsoring Organization.

NOVEMBER wa s the month fo r ADVANCEMENT. Troop 238 held its first Board of Review, and early in December, we will hold our first COURT OF HONOR, where we expect that all of our Scouts will be awarded their Tenderfoot Rank. CONGRATULATIONS to all those who have worked so hard in demonstrating their achievements. Thank you to the members of our Board of review, Mr. Peseux, Mr. Evans, and Ms. Speedy. Before sitting for the Board of Review, all Scouts had to demonstrate their knowledge of the Tenderfoot requirements, and participate in a Scoutmaster Conference.
